Make my logo bigger

If I were a client and had to choose where to put my money on web design, I wouldn't think twice about it. My monies would go right to Agency Fusion, a web development firm.

Check out their website: Make My Logo Bigger Cream

Wouldn't you just love to work with an agency which has a tongue-in-cheek way of attracting clients?

These guys are really sure of what they are offering cos' "Make my logo bigger" is one of the most dreaded statements an agency ever wants to hear. Trust me :)

No more bachelors?

After Apple fanatic Nick Haley posted his homemade iPod Touch commercial to YouTube last month, a few ad execs at the Cupertino based company saw it. But rather than send him a cease-and-desist letter, they bought his ad, flew him out to Los Angeles to reshoot it in high def, and will be broadcasting it during the World Series this weekend. 98.4% freedom

Microsoft won its latest sparring match with Google on Wednesday, securing a deal to buy 1.6 percent of the social networking site Facebook for $240 million - a move that values the young site at $15 billion and bolsters a new model of online advertising. More here

Freak...looks like Microsoft is real desperate now. Can't wait to see where they are going to put their monies in next.....

And Zuckerberg... CEO of a $15 bn company at 23 ..that too after dropping out of Harvard! Amazing!!

He must be thanking his stars that Facemash ran into troubled waters :D

www = weird weird web

Geeeez! Came across this site: Midget Throwing - A Lost Art

"In Ontario, Canada, the Dwarf Tossing Ban Act, 2003 (Bill 97 2003) tabled by Windsor MPP Sandra Pupatello was tabled but not passed . With proposed penalties of a fine of not more than $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both. This was in response to a dwarf tossing contest that was held at Leopard's Lounge in Windsor Ontario" - Wikipedia

It's a bloody weird world out there, eh?

What were these dudes thinking when they were taunting Andrew Symonds?

"Look mommy! They caught me on camera" ???????

Not again!

Having your office in a prime location in the city is more of a bane than a boon, as we found out yet again today.

M.G Road- undoubtedly the best official address to have around here, is getting ready for the Metro Rail. The road is a mess thanks to heavy machinery drilling through the road everyday. No complaints about that.

But for heaven's sake, why do they keep drilling through our fiber optic cables? It's freaking impossible to work without the internet!

Do no evil?

The deputy mayor of the Indian capital Delhi has died a day after being attacked by a horde of wild monkeys. More here

Read this shocking story in the papers this morning. Awful!

Despite repeated press coverage on the monkey menace in Delhi, no steps have been taken to curb the problem. Where are we heading?

Stepped out recently with a friend to check out the Retail craze in Bangalore.

Guess what I found staring right back at me amidst all that chaos?

EGB ... Elephant Ginger Beer.. a refreshing beverage and a brand my previous agency built over a short span of time :)

This non-alcoholic beverage uses natural ginger as its chief ingredient. And the best bit is the fact that the parent company runs an initiative to support local farmers who grow ginger.

Nice, eh?

A chilled glass of EGB is a must for everyone who ever visits Sri Lanka.

Like the ad campaign says... "No EGB. No food!" :)

Wham! Bam! Still no Cam!

It sucks BIG time! Not having my camera handy...

There's so much talk about reducing ecological footprints worldwide. It probably hasn't even crossed the minds of the officials at Indian Railways yet.

Wikipedia says "
The total number of railway stations in India is estimated to be between 7,000 and 8,000"

Here's a suggestion: Get rid of those platform tickets!

It'll save a whole lot of trees from being cut down every year.

The solution?

Try this approach :)

Online targeted advertising never fails to fascinate me. Here are two ads i came across recently.

The ad shown below prompted me to search for available stats on female foeticide in India.

And this one below just plain surprised me. I mean imagine an Indian guy checking out cars on a Croatian website and being targeted with a not so irrelevant ad. Bloody cool!

Came across this ambient 'ad' on Adsoftheworld

Geez! Everything about that image says it's a scam ad.

The guys could have at least done a better job on the shadows, no?

Research rocks! :D

Ogilvy toolbar for IE/ Firefox

Came across the Ogilvy toolbar. It's brilliant!

If you're one of those hardcore Ogilvy-ians who loves to access official e-mails/ Truffles outside work hours, get it right now!

The toolbar also comes with a google search bar, email notifier and temperature indicator! Way to go, Conduit!

Don't you wanna download the the toolbar too? :)

Yaaay! O&M is Agency of the Year!

At the Effie Awards ceremony held in Mumbai, the loudest cheer was from the O&M camp – the agency walked away with the coveted Agency of the Year title, after scoring two golds, three silvers and two bronzes.

Me: "Yep! Senior Planner @ Ogilvy!"

Z: "Cooooool! CONGRATS!"

Me: " Thanks a lot!"

Z: "What's Ogilvy?"

Me: "Hmmm...David Ogilvy...is popularly known as the Father of Advertising"

Z: "So...you are the Son of Advertising?"

Pfff! Beats me that people don't make the effort to google it or wiki it before asking a silly question!

Cannibal Corpse

The anthropologist Bronislaw Malinowski had a conversation with a cannibal during World War I. The cannibal asked Malinowski how the Europeans could possibly eat the great number of people being killed in the war. Malinowski replied that they did not eat them at all. The cannibal was shocked, and told Malinowski that the Europeans were utterly barbaric, to kill so many people with no real purpose!

Thanks Katty! Keep sending me more of these!

Lights | Camera | Ogilvy Action

Alright! I've got a great break at OgilvyAction, Bangalore! :)

After a couple of months of 'chilling' and networking over the internet with practising Planners in India, I figured it's time to have a chat with a Planner in Bangalore.

Thanks to Sabith Khan, (a budding PR professional at Ogilvy and a good friend), I was soon sitting face to face with Mohammed Iqbal (IQ),
Atticus Award winner and Sr. Planning Director at O&M. Over half an hour, we discussed everything from 'formal education in India' and Advertising in Sri Lanka to his award-winning paper titled 'The Elongating Tail of Brand Communications' (check it out...it's a thought provoking read!)

The meeting of course ended with IQ asking me if I was job hunting. A couple of interviews with OgilvyAction and a week later, I was offered a Planning role.

Found out my designation last week: Senior Planner :)

Cool, eh?

Thanks Sabith, IQ, Menkka, Ramesh and everyone who was part of the amazing SL experience! You guys rock!

Gotta go now.... time for Action!
